If you are still in the area before you leave, book an appointment in Longueuil. We then take your fingerprints electronically and send them straight to the RCMP, with no sheet to mail. The office is on the second floor of the Sutton building, less than 2 km from Longueuil–Université-de-Sherbrooke metro station. For that option, see our page on fingerprint-based background checks in Montreal.

Remote fingerprinting in brief

Once you are abroad, go to a police service or an authorized agency in your country of residence. They take your prints on the official sheet, which you download from our website; a Live scan printout is also accepted.

You then mail the sheet to our Quebec City office at 4715 avenue des Replats, Suite 195, Québec, QC G2J 1B8, since that is where every remote application is processed. An email confirms its arrival along with the invoice to pay online, and we forward the file to the RCMP. For the steps and fees, see our remote criminal records by fingerprinting page.

Frequently asked questions in the Montreal area

Which form should the police service abroad use?

The C-216 fingerprint form, which you download from this page or from our service page. Print it and bring it to the police service or agency in your country of residence, since your prints must be taken on that specific document.

Yes. Our Longueuil team remains your contact at 450-910-1701 for any question about your file, even when the sheet is processed in Quebec City. Call them if you are unsure which form to use or which Canadian address should receive the result.

It usually takes one to four weeks, delivery included, after your fingerprints and payment reach us. The official document is mailed to a Canadian address only.
