Pre-Lease Screening in brief
Open an account, enter your applicant’s name, phone number and email, and select the checks you need. The applicant then receives a secure authorization form by email and signs it electronically. How do I screen a tenant for a rental in Montreal?
Everything goes through the portal: you submit the applicant’s contact details and pick your checks. The searches follow the person, not the address, so the process is identical for a downtown Montreal condo or a duplex in Saint-Hubert. Neither you nor the applicant has to visit our office.
Do I need my applicant's consent?
Yes. In Canada, a background check can only be performed with the informed consent of the person being screened. That is why the authorization form goes straight to your applicant by email, and our searches only begin once they have signed it.
How quickly will I get the results?
Initial results arrive within business hours of receiving the signed form, often in 2 to 4 hours. More in-depth analyses, such as the credit evaluation or the TAL search, generally take 24 to 48 hours. You can realistically screen an applicant between two showings.
